Red balloons appeared in our library! Why would they be here?
The red balloons are at PPS Library to celebrate our sharing of the first of this year's ten nominees for the Red Clover Children's Choice Picture Book Award! Beginning the first week of December and continuing until voting time at the end of March, we will be sharing these books that were selected by a group of children's literature experts from all around Vermont. Titles include Shh! We Have a Plan, I'm My Own Dog, My Grandfather's Coat, Blizzard and Star Stuff: Carl Sagan and the Mysteries of the Cosmos. Visit http://www.mothergooseprograms.org/ to get a complete list of the books and other program activities. Students will make important connections to the Common Core State Standards and District Curriculum as they learn how books are made, the relationship between artwork and text, and other ways of studying literature. Last year, more than 22,000 K-4 students from almost all of Vermont's elementary schools participated in this program. We are excited to be a part of this voting group that will decide the Red Clover Children's Choice Picture Book Award for 2015-2016!
